End-to-End Fiori Enablement: Practical Steps, Lessons Learned & the Future with AI-Driven SAP UX

This session shares hands-on experience from a full SAP Fiori enablement project, covering everything required to activate, troubleshoot, and operationalize Fiori applications across frontend (Gateway) and backend systems. We will walk through the practical steps completed during setup: activating ICF/UI5 services, registering OData services, configuring the Fiori Launchpad, maintaining semantic objects, assigning business catalogs, and building roles that connect users to apps seamlessly.

The session highlights key tools and activities including: verifying FLP access via /UI2/FLP, managing content with /UI2/FLPCM_CUST, activating UI5 nodes in SICF, enabling core OData services through /IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE, monitoring runtime issues via /IWFND/ERROR_LOG, and validating system aliases with /UI2/GW_SYS_ALIAS. We will also explore role creation in PFCG for IWSG/IWSV services and the importance of semantic object definitions for navigation.

Participants will gain a clear, structured overview of how to avoid common pitfalls such as authorization failures and Gateway errors—and how new AI tools like Joule and LLM-enhanced Fiori workflows will shape the next generation of SAP user experiences.

OpenAR – Smart Account Receivables (AR) AI Assistant for Cash Allocation

OpenAR is an OpenAI and SAP S/4HANA based AI solution that targets payments which are unknown, unallocated and require manual handling. This AI SAP based Fiori Application for Accounts Receivable team designed to become the main tool for the Payment Search and Cash Allocation. This Application uses GenAI GPT4.0 Model to identify the unique name in the payment reference and transfers it to S/4HANA, which then identifies the correct Business Partner, General Ledger to complete the postings for unknown and unallocated payments.

GenAI Powered GRC FireFighter Summarization

Enhance the accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and scalability of the firefighter log review process by leveraging Generative AI. By automating the generation of detailed, human-readable notes, we aim to provide reviewers with comprehensive summaries of the logs. This automation is expected to reduce the likelihood of missing critical details and ensure consistent evaluations, ultimately streamlining the review process and improving overall compliance and security within the SAP GRC firefighter framework.

Hugging Face in SAP AI Foundation

This session shows how Hugging Face models can be used inside SAP AI Foundation to build real, production-ready AI use cases. You will learn how to bring your own models into the SAP ecosystem, deploy them with SAP AI Core, manage them via AI Launchpad, and connect them to SAP applications.

The focus is on practical patterns, not theory. Topics include model selection, containerization, training and serving workflows, and governance aspects like versioning and monitoring. The session also shares lessons learned from real projects, including common pitfalls, performance considerations, and cost awareness. You will see how open-source transformer models can be combined with SAP services to accelerate innovation while staying enterprise-ready. This talk is aimed at developers, data scientists, and architects who want to use modern NLP and foundation models in SAP landscapes. Basic knowledge of SAP BTP and machine learning helps, but the session stays accessible and hands-on.

By the end, you will understand how to bridge Hugging Face and SAP AI Foundation in a clean, scalable way and how to start your own BYOM journey in SAP.

There Are No Bugs, Only Poorly Specified Prompts

Think your AI assistant is buggy? Think again…

In this session, I’ll explore why most “AI failures” are actually prompt failures, and how to fix them. I will show practical techniques for getting consistent, high-quality results from AI when tackling real (SAP) development challenges: applying TDD and SDD principles with AI assistance, refactoring legacy code without breaking everything, detecting malicious patterns before they hit production, etc. Through live demos, I’ll share how to write prompts and instructions that work like well-crafted requirements: specific, testable, and unambiguous.

Walk away with a systematic approach to AI-assisted development that turns frustrating trial-and-error into predictable, production-ready results. No more “the AI didn’t understand me.” Just better specifications, better code, and better outcomes.

Automatically translate texts of development objects with AI and n8n

At this year’s Abapconf, I demonstrated the n8n tool and how we can use it to access the SAP system directly. We used this to create automatic documentation of all development objects in a package using AI.

In this session, I would like to show another use case in which we translate the texts of the development objects into any target language we want. This can save a lot of time, because translations often required countless clicks on the system using SAP GUI or Eclipse. As an alternative (or in addition), I also have another topic that has something to do with ABAP, but not with AI. I have developed a tool that makes testing ABAP RAP, classic SEGW ODATA services (whether v2 or v4) and ABAP Push Channel user-friendly and centralises it in one place: https://github.com/mariokernich/odapu-abap

Technical Debt Management with GenAI at Booking.com

Technical Debt Management with GenAI is a practical session on applying Booking’s approach to reduce legacy complexity and increase business agility in an SAP ABAP landscape. By improving code quality, performance, and security, this approach helps lower KTLO effort, reduce upgrade and maintenance costs, and accelerate the transition to a cloud-ready system.

The session demonstrates how we combine established SAP practices with GenAI to enable faster, more informed decision-making and planning. We use standard quality and compliance techniques such as ATC checks, usage analysis, and performance monitoring to identify issues and hotspots. Custom code is extracted and structured by development package using abapGit, and GenAI then produces concise summaries that capture purpose, dependencies, key functionality – helping functional and development teams assess impact and prioritize remediation. In addition, a management-focused overview consolidates results by criticality and resolution priority to support efficient backlog planning and progress tracking.

Attendees will leave with actionable insights and lessons learned on using SAP tools and GenAI together to make modernization efforts more transparent, measurable, and effective.
